Stefan Faulhaber, born in Hockenheim known for its racing circuit, got into motorsports very early. Already in 1982 he started at his first slalom race in the Rhine-Neckar district in Southwest Germany. Three years later he celebrated his first big success as the season’s best in the young drivers’ category.
In 1997 Stefan Faulhaber became champion of the AVD Hesse slalom cup right away with his first Opel Kadett C. Until 2005 he achieved several class and 9 total wins in the German slalom championship.
The successful cooperation with the company Risse Motorsport originated in long standing personal contact. With his new 2.0 16V engine built by Risse, Stefan Faulhaber headed the 2006 South German slalom championship rankings for nearly the whole racing season. Unfortunately, he had to drop out due to illness.
In 2007 Stefan Faulhaber was not ready yet to start at all races but celebrated some very good results.
In the 2008 season he took off at full speed again. In the racing slalom cup and the German slalom championship Stefan Faulhaber demonstrated his abilities with various podium positions.
For the 2009 season Risse built into his Opel Kadett C Coupé a 1.6 8V motor. With this new engine Stefan Faulhaber won the overall title at the slalom races in Breisach and entered the podium twice at the KW hill climb cup series. But the highlight and his biggest success so far was to become vice champion of the German automobile slalom championship in 2009. Sensational and thrilling was the final race at the Bitburg airfield. Despite a damaged steering bearing Stefan Faulhaber won on the strength of his routine his class race on Saturday. On Sunday he changed the complete steering with the help of friends and competitors. Only ten minutes before the race started the Opel classic was in optimal condition again. Two horrendous fast stints brought Stefan Faulhaber not only an outstanding class victory but also a sensational overall second place – and this against 30 competitors from the 2000 cc classes with bigger capacities.
The 2010 season has also been a very successful one for Stefan Faulhaber. He “shared” his Risse Kadett C with Klaus Knorra who participated in three races. Like the year before Stefan Faulhaber won the German Championship slalom in Breisach. In the KW hill climb cup he and Klaus Knorra fantastically achieved five first places, two second places and one third place in the 8V classification at nine races. Therewith they finished the season in excellent third place of all 8V classes in the KW hill climb championship.
During the whole season Stefan Faulhaber and Klaus Knorra did not have to deplore one single technical failure!
In 2011 Stefan Faulhaber placed first in nearly all 8V rankings of the group H races up to 1600 cc and thereby also was at the top of class rankings.
Unfortunately, in the course of the season three competitors had to drop out so that important additional scoring points could not be achieved. A better result in the overall 8V rankings was thus impossible.
In the 2012 season Stefan Faulhaber teamed up with Michael Rauch, driving his Kadett. The two partners became vice champions in the KW hill climb 8V rankings.
